Three Die One Seriously Injured In Route 7 Car Crash Near Middlebury

 Three people lost their lives in a Wednesday morning February 13th, 2008 two car crash on U.S. Route 7 just north of Exchange Street near Hendy Brothers Inc. in Middlebury.
Police reports indicate that shortly before 11a.m., Dereck Busier age 31 was driving south during a steady sleet and rain squall when his Chevrolet Cavalier slid sideways on the ice and slush covered highway and crossed the center line continuing sideways until it collided right-side-first with a Jeep Cherokee driven by James P. Dunn, 45 of Salisbury in the northbound lane.
[ more ] Gailer School Loses Bid To Relocate To Industrial Park

On Monday evening, February 11, the Middlebury Planning and Zoning Board voted unanimously to deny the Gailer School's application to relocate their facility to the Mainelli building in the Middlebury Industrial Park. There was much impassioned testimony on both sides of the question, with Gailer School parents and staff on one side and Industrial Park business owners on the other.
Dutton Smith, Chair of the Site Committee and Vice-Chair of the School Board presented Gailer's rebuttals to the major objections to the move, specifically school, truck and pedestrian traffic, the stated industrial use of the area and the fact that the school would not oppose future industry in the park. Also presented was a petition opposing the school's position by Tony Neri, signed by Industrial Park business owners and management. Some parents of Gailer students felt that if this site were not available the school might have to close.

It is still prudent not to confuse the world’s oldest profession with one of the world’s oldest institutions, marriage, but, according to the Wall Street Journal, the lines between the two are becoming blurred.
Prince and Associates, a “wealth-research firm, polled 1134 people nationwide with incomes ranging between $30,000 to $60,000.” According to the results of the survey, two thirds of the respondents said they were more than willing to marry a normal looking, likeable person for money.

Customer Appreciation Days on Friday morning February 15, 2008 in Middlebury. Seedway is a full line seed company based in Shoreham, Vt. Both men are company representatives and were on hand during the five day event to help current and future customers with all of their seed needs for the 2008 growing season. Many of the farmers have already had their Seedway orders processed for this year but Adam and Tony also enjoy meeting new customers and greeting old friends at the annual event.
