Steve’s Park Diner Gets a Facelift By Larry Johnson By the time Steve Dow bought the Park Diner from Corrado Salini in 1989, the Diner had already survived a long and distinguished career. Jack Swanson, a businessman from Lynn, Massachusetts brought the Diner to town in the mid-30s. It came to Middlebury by train and was unloaded from a flat-bed car by local building contractor Leonard Zeman. She is also one of the nicest people I have ever known. She has lived a life of service to others; not only to family and friends but to those who were placed in her care as a nurse. If I sound like I am the least bit bias, it’s because extolling the virtues of my mother’s only sister is the easiest thing I have ever done. [ more ] Addison County Fair and Field Days 2008 By Mike Cameron “We love this place,” a vacationing Mom with her husband and family told this reporter last year during Addison County Fair and Field Days in West Addison. They were from the New York metro area and said that whenever they can, Field Days is a visit they look forward to year after year. Dad, Mom and the three youngsters were enjoying a visit to the Children's Barnyard getting up close and personal with a variety of farm animals. It is one of the most popular places to visit during the week long event. This year, Field Days will run from August 5th till August 9th. Like every year the event has been in the planning stages since the preceding year's end date came and passed. [ more ]
