Tigers Edged At Bratt 28-20

    After a breakthrough victory against Essex in game 5, the Tigers headed down interstate 91 to Natowitch field for a Friday night contest with the always difficult Colonels of Brattleboro on October 4th 2008.
    At 2-3 on the year and 1-4 in Division1 going in, the Tigers were taking it week to week, one play at a time.  They have proven that they can make big plays and did so against Essex in their first D1 win of the year the precious week.  The Essex win revealed several important aspects about this year’s team.  When they are healthy, and motivated, the Tigers are a hand-full for anyone. It’s as simple as that.  Coaches Denis Smith, John Nuceder, Craig Burnham and Gus Brakeley are in a rebuilding mode with this year’s team but the Tiger football program is a winner with strong traditions.  Bratt is in the same situation.  [ more ]

Rooted in Addison’s History: Sharing Memories with The Clark Family

    When Isaiah Clark arrived in Addison, Vermont in 1788, his family had already invested five generations in the soil of Connecticut. He brought his wife and six children with him to Addison and settled in a home he built just north of Addison Four Corners. Blessed with large families and longevity of his children, Isaiah left behind a legacy of Clark’s that continue today to call Addison home. While visiting with and Janet Clark this past week, this reporter got to know Isaiah and his five generations between him and Erwin, each with its own dynamic story. With each new folder the Clark’s opened, and with each new tale told, two things are clear. First, that Erwin and Janet Clark are incredible sources of information for not Addison history, but surrounding towns as well.  [ more ]

Something New On Main Street In Vergennes

    When the doors opened to Shear Cuts on February 8, 1997, co-owners Connie Gendreau and Hillary Devine were nervous, excited and optimistic towards the future of their salon business. Fast forward 11.5 years and the next step of the dream has become a reality. In May of 2008 the two purchased a building on the main street of Vergennes, and Shear Cuts once more grew in size and took a dream to the next level.
