Welcoming Green Mountain Equestrian Center To Bridport By Cookie Steponaitis Green Mountain Equestrian Center is located at the corners of East and Cross Street and brings to Addison County the combined talents of Jane Costello and Jacki Galenkamp, who together have been involved with horses for over thirty years. With a grand opening set for early summer, Green Mount Equestrian Center offers the novice and the expert alike a place to meet and provides services that allow them to continue to explore the never ending world of horses. [ more ] Health Fair Challenges Teens to Explore and Reflect By Cookie Steponaitis On Thursday, May 14th, VUHS was the site of a Health and Wellness Fair that involved six hundred students from grades 7-12 in a variety of activities and presentations that focused on exploring and reflecting on personal health and living choices. Organized by Substance Abuse Coordinator Nathan Kittredge, the event included such diverse presenters as Rusty DeWees and a mock car crash involving local fire, rescue, police departments and medical transport personnel. The event began at 10:45 with students perusing over forty different booths in the gymnasium. [ more ] Mapping Champlain’s New World Exhibit at the Henry Sheldon Museum The Henry Sheldon Museum celebrates the 400th anniversary of Samuel de Champlain’s historic visit to Lake Champlain with the exhibit Mapping Champlain’s New World on view at the Museum through October 23. An exhibit reception will take place on Thursday, May 28 from 5-7 p.m. Samuel de Champlain was not only known as the founder of New France, he was also a skilled cartographer. [ more ] First Annual Festival Of Music At Middlebury’s Town Hall Theater Middlebury’s Town Hall Theater is getting a reputation as a great place to hear music. This month, musicians and audiences alike will get the chance to experience its intimate scale and warm sound as the theater hosts its first annual Festival of Music. The jewel in the crown of the festival is fully-staged production of Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, by the Opera Company of Middlebury, directed by Douglas Anderson. Now in its sixth season, OCM has become one of the premier opera companies in New England, presenting major opera in the intimate confines of Town Hall Theater. [ more ]
