Hidden Treasures Beneath The Dome: Exploring The Bixby Library By Jackie Steponaitis The site of people standing, pointing at, and photographing the exterior of the Bixby Free Memorial Library on Main Street in Vergennes is a common occurrence. The townspeople are used to the awe and curiosity that the columns, marble edifice, and domed library incite in visitors and even long time residents. Despite the beautiful exterior, the real treasures of the Bixby lie inside, beneath the dome and in the people, programs, and offerings of this historic landmark and local treasure. [ more ] Middlebury Police Host Georgian Police Tom Hanley, Middlebury Police Chief, hosted 6 members of law enforcement from the Republic of Georgia, who were visiting and learning about the United States criminal justice system. The Chief gave them an overview of policing in a small community such as Middlebury with emphasis on Community Policing. [ more ] Vergennes Senior Housing Project Grant Secured Sen. Bernie Sanders announced that he secured a $380,000 federal grant for a Vergennes senior housing project. The Vergennes project will fill a critically important need in Addison County and provide seniors in the region quality and affordable independent living space. [ more ] Middlebury Actors Workshop Presents The Fox Middlebury Actors Workshop, Addison County’s only small professional theater ensemble and a resident company of the Town Hall Theater, will present Allan Miller’s The Fox, based on the novella by D.H. Lawrence, March 18 – 21. The Fox kicks off MAW’s celebratory 10th year bringing intelligent, finely crafted theater to Central Vermont. [ more ]
