Sharing A Zest For Community: Meet The Women Of Bakery Lane

    Tucked away down a side street in Middlebury, Vermont, between the Ben Franklin Store and the flowing waters of the Otter Creek is Neat Repeats Resale Shop. Since 1990 this volunteer non-profit organization has quietly been serving the needs of Addison County one item and one donation at a time. At the helm of this remarkable effort are directors Linda Waterman, Diane Howlett and Volunteer Coordinator Loretta Green, who oversee the operation that collects items and clothing for resale, and then directs the funds raised back to the community in the form of grants. Fifty volunteers make up the staff and the women of Bakery Lane are all driven by one common goal and passion to “…help the places, organizations and individuals that can’t find help elsewhere.” And help they do!

More Than A Friendship

Gardner Stone presents Larry Grace with a 1970 Buick GS Stage 1, 455, Convertible. This is Larry’s 30th year working for Gardner at G. Stone Motors. “Larry had one of these cars as a Demo back in the 70’s when we worked together at Beckwith Motors.  I’ve never seen him happier than when he was driving that car. We’ve been together for over 40 years.  Larry was my crew chief when we drag raced together in the 60’s. Larry has been like a brother to me, that I never had. I can’t think of anybody that deserves this car more than him,” Gardner explained.  [ more ]

Middlebury Arts Walk Teams Up With The Hospice Not-Just-Art Auction

    Middlebury asserts itself as a top cultural destination on Friday, May 14, when the Middlebury Arts Walk sets the stage for the annual Hospice Volunteer Services Not-Just Art Auction.
    The Arts Walk, now in its second year, takes place on the second Friday of the month, from April through October.  With 32 stores, galleries and restaurants participating, the Middlebury downtown is filled from 5-7 pm with crowds of people hopping from place to place to view a wide range of artwork.  Admission to all venues is free.  [ more ]
