MVAA Announces Lions Club Gift The Middlebury Voluntary Ambulance Association announced today that they have received a leadership gift of $25,000 from the Middlebury Lions Club. Carol and Mickey Heinecken, co-chairs of the million-dollar capital campaign stated, “We are delighted that the members of the Lions Club have chosen to support this cause at this level. This is a significant contribution on their part, and it sets a great tone for gifts from our community in the early stages of our campaign" [ more ] Gardening Advice For The Novice Gardener By Cookie Steponaitis There is something eternal and at the same time rejuvenating when witnessing master gardeners at work. They take Addison County clay, dirt, or to use the correct term soil and work it into a plot of land that produces a harvest that boggles the mind. As a result of their efforts come vegetables, plants, berries and produce that are loaded with nutrients that people will pay top dollar for. They do this with a grace and calm that makes the process seem more of a journey than a hardship. So, armed with visions of rows of resplendent cucumbers, tomatoes, corn and peas, this reporter stopped off at the home a local master gardener to learn, gawk and absorb as much of the process as possible. [ more ] Lions Clocks Rock In Vergennes Over twenty five Vermont artists have donated their time and talent to create and decorate clocks for a Vergennes Lions Club fund raising project called “It’s About Time.” Each working clock is unique and one of a kind. The clocks are decorated using paints, stained glass, decoupage, wood-burning, jewelry beads, nature items, found objects and more. [ more ]
