Ocicats: A Breed Apart & Vermont Felines By Cookie Steponaitis Whether it is at the zoo, animal parks or from watching documentaries on wild cats, most of us have a secret passion to own or be near them. There is the majesty of the Lion; the mesmerizing speed of the Cheetah, and the stealth of a Black Panther that holds us spellbound and draw us into the world of the wild cat. When we come home at night tired and ready to unwind, we truly appreciate the welcome and nobility of their domesticated cousins who pounce at our feet, chase catnip balls playfully around the living room, or stare at us serenely from their perch in the kitchen, waiting impatiently for us to pay tribute and feed them their meal. Domesticated as they may be, they have moments when they hearken back to their larger and wild ancestors, stirring in us a chill while also providing us with a glimpse of the beauty and savagery of the wild. [ more ] Douglas Visits Troops In Iraq/Afganistan Governor Jim Douglas was in Iraq recently with a delegation of governors to meet with troops and receive a first-hand update about the situation in Iraq. The Governor departed from Andrews Air Force Base after meeting with Deputy Secretary of Defense William Lynn and visiting Walter Read Army Medical Center during the day.

As a result, it will benefit from the expertise and resources of e-Vermont’s statewide partners as they help residents design ways to take full advantage of the Internet to create jobs, drive school innovation, provide social services, and increase civic involvement.
