Local Teens Start Maple Business By Cookie Steponaitis As the thermometer creeps above freezing and the rays of the sun reach our faces longer and longer each day, Vermonters are certain of two things. First, spring is right around the corner and secondly that it is one of the sweetest times of year as the maple sugaring industry moves into production. Taps, buckets, pipelines, and evaporators are all vocabulary common to the Vermont landscape and a business dating back to the earliest days of settlement. [ more ] 2011 Kimberly Krans Women Who Change the World Award Winner WomenSafe is pleased to announce that Lauraine Warfield was selected as the recipient of the 2011 Kimberly Krans Women Who Change the World Award. The award is presented annually to a woman in Addison County/ Rochester whose outstanding work and achievements have had positive impacts for, and furthered the safety of, women and children in our community. It is named after Kimberly Krans, a longtime supporter and dear friend of the WomenSafe community.
