MUMS Theatre Group To Perform Charlie And The Chocolate Factory In April By Marcie Bolton The Middlebury Union Middle School drama is preparing for a performance on April 11, 2012, for two performances of the modern day fairy tale, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This year approximately 35 students will be participating where all the actors will double as stage hands, in this multi-faceted endeavor. “We have about 3 months from auditions to performance, and only a limited amount of rehearsal time after school, so our time together is intense,” says theater director Debbie Malmros. Since 1975 they have provided temporary shelter for over 19,000 lost, abandoned, abused or surrendered animals. They currently serve over 1,000 each year through shelter services, Feral/Barn Cat Outreach Program and Cruelty Response Program.
[ more ] Middlebury Prevailed 66-59 In Tight Match Against Vergennes Boys Basketball By Marcie Bolton The Tigers showed toughness on the boards and held Vergennes back this time for a win- 66-59. By the end of the first quarter the score was 14-8 fortuitously predicting the close outcome of another winning game for Middlebury (9-10) as the Tigers won their 2nd game in a row. They evened up their season series with Vergennes after losing to them a few weeks back in a very close game 64-63. The host Tigers reeled off a powerful start and kept the momentum throughout the game, while Vergennes nipped at their heels throughout.
