Linda’s Apparel Opens The Men’s Corner

   Standing on the corner of Main and Green Street in Vergennes, the building housing Linda’s Apparel has been a clothing store in the Little City since 1902 and Linda Cook has been a part of the story herself since October, 1982. Linda was in eighth grade when she decided that her future centered on fashion and clothing. After graduating from Crown Point in 1980, Linda attended Champlain College and majored in Fashion Merchandising. Upon returning to the Little City, Linda joined the staff of Fishman’s Department Store and continued working there until the store closed in August, 1997.

Middlebury Buries CVU 35-7 in a Sea of Mud

The rain came down in sheets, the pumpkins glowed at the field’s end to honor the seniors on senior night, and the Tigers were in their element.  Mitchell Clarke commented, “Mud is all about Middlebury.  We love it here.  Our boys played hard tonight.  We won as a team tonight.  We weren’t thinking about where we were gonna be, we just needed to win this game for us and for our fans too.”  Certainly mud was their turf as they pounded the CVU Redhawks 35-7 at Doc Collins Field.   [ more ]

Traveling the State and Reaching Out to Teens: Meet Caroline Jones Miss Vermont Outstanding Teen 2012

   Caroline Jones is currently a junior at Champlain Valley Union High School with hopes of a career in the humanities, social sciences and a focus in public policy and foreign relations, and like many other teens had no plans on entering a scholarship program due to the negative stereotypes associated with them. After hearing about the program from her mom who interviewed the 2010 titleholders for public access TV, Caroline was intrigued to hear comments about the intelligence, poise and public speaking skills the teens possessed. After attending one workshop with the Miss Vermont Scholarship Program, both mom and daughter were not only convinced but were asking where to sign up.

Tiger Seniors Play Their Final Regular Season Home Game

      The MUHS senior players were introduced to the home crowd at Doc Collins Field for what would be their last home game ever as players.  They were greeted by a solid crowd of supporters, a tough opponent and a driving rain storm.  When the game was over the supporters were still there. it was still raining hard and  the Tigers had notched a win over the CVU Red Hawks.   The Tigers now qualify for a higher seed in the post season playoff system. the coaching staff has to be much more optimistic than they were earlier in the season.  Their next opponent will be announced this week.
