Porter Birthing Center Dedication
 Porter Hospital dedicated its new Birthing Center and Surgical Care Center at a ceremony on Friday, November 10th at 3:00 p.m.
The event was free and open to the public, and was held in an area adjacent to the new “North Wing”, on the north side of the hospital campus.
The ceremony included brief remarks and acknowledgements by hospital board chairman, Joe Sutton, Medical Staff President Dr. Allan Curtiss Porter Medical Center President James L. Daily and PMC board chair, Steve Terry.

 More than 30 years ago in a small and modest space on Bakery Lane in Middlebury, the “Round Robin Thrift Shop” was established by a small but very committed group of Porter Hospital supporters.
Now, after generating more than $1 million in donations in support of Porter
Medical Center, the new “Round Robin Upscale Resale” shop formally dedicated
its new, larger and more modern retail operation in the Marble Works Complex.
“We are thrilled with our new space and have been deeply gratified by the response from our volunteers, customers and the many visitors who have stopped by over the past month just to check out our new home”, said Porter spokesman Ron Hallman. The Vermont Tax Department conducts audits as well as the federal Internal Revenue Service and presumably the External Revenue Service (you’re supposed to pay taxes on offshore revenues). And nonprofit organizations, as well as companies and individuals, get investigated in this way.
This year, it was the Brandon Area Chamber of Commerce’s turn, and the audit turned up a problem with enough of an impact that the BACC is now trying to alert other organizations that might be in a similar situation.
“ We were randomly chosen for this audit and it taught us quite a few lessons!,” said a Chamber letter that executive director Janet Mondlak and president Bernie Carr (Carr’s Country Florist & Gifts) collaborated to write, and got the approval of the board of directors to send out. “There were essentially two places where we came up short.”
