Celebrating Life And Lessons Learned With An Identical Twin: Meet Lucile And Cecile

There is a palpable energy and connection present in the room when Lucile and Cecile Quesnel are in it. It is intangible to the touch but apparent to the eye, ear and heart. When Lucile starts a phrase Cecile finishes it. When Cecile chuckles at a shared memory Lucile sits forward in her seat and fills in the details, pausing without thought to allow Cecile to continue the story to its conclusion. No event is labeled the property of one or the other. Their life is a shared story and one they have lived with joy since 1927.

VUHS Seniors Help Out At Camp Ta-Kum-Ta

For more than two decades Camp Ta-Kum-Ta has provided a safe, loving place where children from Vermont and New York who have, or have had cancer can play, swim, share, and heal. Camp T-K-T is where kids go to reclaim a childhood robbed by cancer. For the past four years the camp that loves to share love has been getting some loving attention from the VUHS senior classes. Joining the ranks, the VUHS Class of 2013 spent the last two days at Camp Ta-Kum-Ta doing what ever was needed to prep the camp for this years campers. Led by Lee Shorey and the senior class advisors, over 90 students raked, painted, cooked, built and cleaned their way through the camp.  [ more ]

2013 Addison County Firefighters Association Regional Fire School

Firefighters from around the state gathered in Middlebury on the weekend of April 26th-28th for the Addison County Firefighters Association Regional Fire School. Firefighters learned about Vehicle Extrication, High Angle Rescue, Rapid Intervention Team, Thermal Imaging, Fire Pumps and much more.

Truly Ethnic Food

    I went to an open invitation dinner at Middlebury College one time, and I found myself sitting next to a bright, personable young man from Malaysia. In the course of our conversation, I remarked to him that he must find American food very boring. He agreed: there were so many spices that grew in his tropical country and cooks knew how to use, but that people in the United States don’t know at all.
