Renovation Project Brings Blessings And Benefits To Bristol Church & Food Shelf

The original St. Ambrose Parish Church in Bristol had to be torn down for safety reasons in 1971 and on July 31st of that same year the present St. Ambrose Parish was dedicated. Both churches were built with the generosity of parishioners and the people of Bristol which continues to be demonstrated today. The St. Ambrose Parish community is excited to announce that within a month the parishioners and members of the community will be able to access the Parish Hall underneath the church via an elevator.   [ more ]

One Fold At A Time: Bringing Origami To 180 Libraries Across The State

Origami is an ancient art form and creative process where color, paper, creativity, patterns and symmetry converge with each new fold bringing discovery and allowing the process of play. Created with the invention of paper by the Chinese around 100 A.D. and arriving in Japan around the sixth century, paper was at first an expensive commodity and strictly regulated for use in ceremonial events. During the 1600’s the art form became more recreational and creative with the first printed set of directions and origami patterns appearing in 1797 with the Thousand Crane folding.

Of Family And Faith Sharing Memories With Eleanor Pratt

It was a crisp autumn morning on October 17, 1921 when Eleanor made her appearance into the world joining her brother Spencer and their parents on their Panton farm. While Eleanor remembers feeding calves as a young child the farm that she grew up on was small by Vermont standards today with less than fifty cows. The farm had no running water or internal plumbing and Eleanor remarked that her parents must have thought they died and went to heaven when the family moved in 1944 to a home with both.
