JoAn Canning Returns Home And Takes The Helm At ANWSU By Emily Martin When JoAn Canning returned to Addison Northwest Supervisory Union in June to assume the job of Superintendent of Schools, it was coming full circle. Canning worked for ANWSU from 1991 to 1994 as the Director of Special Education as well as schools in Chittenden County and the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. However there are 364 other days that the nearly one million women and men in uniform continue to protect our nation and its interests around the globe as America goes about its business. [ more ] Veterans Day Honors All Who Serve By Cookie Steponaitis As the first Saturday of November dawns, the early morning light reveals a caravan of National Guard vehicles stopped at a local convenience store and service men and women filling up their cups of coffee for the day ahead. There is camaraderie amongst the group that is evident and even at this wee hour of the early morning, a cohesion and order to their movements. When thanked for their service, the group paused, smiled and took time to answer a few quick questions about Veterans Day and its personal meaning to each of them.
