Standard Register To Close Middlebury Plant March 27, 2007 By Mike Cameron Another one of Addison County’s principal employers is closing its plant, ceasing manufacturing operations. But unlike the closure of Specialty Filaments manufacturing two weeks ago that had left 175-employees jobless from the day of the closure announcement, the Standard Register Plant will have reopened by Sunday, January 28th, 2007 with the 11p.m. to 7a.m. shift. A limited production schedule was slated to be underway at the Middlebury facility as of this edition of The Valley Voice. The plant will then permanently close its doors on March 27, 2007. [ more ] Vergennes Teen Wins State Junior Miss Title Alexandra Larrow was awarded the title of Vermont’s Junior Miss 2007 at the VT State Finals on January 20 in Chester. Along with her title, she received a $600 cash scholarship, an $11,000 scholarship to Green Mountain College, the official Junior Miss Medallion, and all expense paid trip to Mobile, AL . Alexandra is the daughter of Jim and Nancy Larrow and is a student at Vergennes Union High School A panel of five judges selected her from a field of high school seniors competing in the 50th annual Vermont’s Junior Miss scholarship program.
