All About The Children By Cookie Steponaitis Kathy Senesac Douglas was in high school when she knew she had found her calling after helping the nuns teach religion class. Kathy idolized Sister Ursula and decided to be like her in how she valued children and treated them as if they were some of God’s most important gifts. Forty-eight years in the classroom and over eight thousand students later, Kathy Douglas still feels it is all about the children. While she officially stepped down from classroom teaching this June, retirement for Kathy looks like some priorities have never shifted. She will still spearhead the Canada Trip for Ferrisburgh sixth graders, help foster and mentor any child wanting to participate in Vermont History Day and find time to babysit some of her grandchildren. Kathy looks at life to this day through the lens of her children, grandchildren and children in her charge. [ more ] Celebrating Dairy Family And Landmark Quality Happy 85th Birthday Monument Farms By Cookie Steponaitis Monument Farms has 2500 acres and 500 cows give or take and is not the biggest dairy in the Champlain Valley nor are they trying to be. Rooted in four generations of family, phenomenal customer loyalty and an eighty five year old tradition of making, processing and selling their own dairy products, Monument Farms had a birthday which they just celebrated with loyal customers. [ more ] Vermont Nonprofit Returns Historical DAR Medal To Chapter In Vergennes On 12 July 2015, the lost Daughters of the American Revolution insignia belonging to Eva Grace Goss was presented to the current leadership of the Vermont Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) at a special ceremony at the John Strong Mansion Museum in Vergennes, VT, conducted by Purple Hearts Reunited (PHR).
