For The Children Meet Linda Fountain Provost By Cookie Steponaitis Linda Fountain Provost is mother of four, grandmother to almost eleven, a home care provider for the past twenty plus years and here for children. Children and family have always been her center and focus and that conviction led her to choosing a career behind the wheel of a school bus that became more than work and linked her to generations. “I didn’t want to leave my own children and Mountain Transit was looking for a driver in Charlotte,” explained Linda. “When I told them that I had a six month old child, they belted a child seat into the bus and I began a career. Driving school bus gave me a way to raise my young child and be home for my teenagers. I was there for every one of them and I was so glad.” [ more ] In Celebration Of Those Who Labor By Cookie Steponaitis America’s workers have always done the impossible. They have moved mountains, linked continents, landed man on the moon, invented technology to travel inside the human heart and continually taken the concept of impossible and made it possible. The first Monday in September was set aside to honor the social and economic achievements of these generations of American laborers. Their performance contributed to the rise of America as a world leader and for those who labor and serve, Labor Day is a reminder of what makes America run and the Champlain Valley a place where volunteerism is alive and well. [ more ] Tigers Host BFA Then Travel To Brattleboro By Mike Cameron After taking the measure of Mount Anthony, Middlebury's Tiger Varsity Football Team will play host to a scrappy BFA Saint Albans, squad that were edged by Rice Memorial in week one, 25-24. BFA would not want to be 0-2 in Division 1. as they traveled to Doc Collins Field for a Friday night, September 4th showdown. [ more ]
