Fond Farewell To Linda Stearns By Mike Cameron Retiring Executive Director of the Addison County Chamber of Commerce, Linda Stearns thanks fellow members of the chamber, family and friends who gathered at the Middlebury American Legion to honor her 25 years of service to the region. Chamber Board President, Jim Daily, Past Chamber Board Member, Jim Ross, Past Chamber Board President, Dave Nourse and Ken Perine, President of the National Bank of Middlebury remembered Linda as a person who was dedicated to the county’s economic vitality. Current Board Member Bill Sayer presented Linda with an award for her “Quarter Century of Leadership, Believing in Business, Believing in People, Believing in the Future.” Linda also received congratulatory messages from Governor Jim Douglas, Vermont’s Congressional Delegation and a special proclamation recognizing her leadership from Addison County’s Legislative Delegation. Linda and her husband Mel live in Lincoln. [ more ] Local Students Nominated For National Scholarship Program Alexandra Larrow and Sonja Oosterman seniors and members of the Otter Valley National Honor Society, have been nominated to compete in the National Honor Society scholarship sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. This year the program will once again award $200,000, in college Scholarships. As a new feature for the 2007 program, special recognition and additional awards will be presented to state and regional winners, along with the selection of one national recipient who will receive an additional $10,000 award. Students nominated for the NHS scholarship not only demonstrate academic excellence but also excel in service, leadership and character. [ more ]
