Farm Lending Is A Specialized Field Vermont Offers Many Options By Ed Barna People in farming country know that it takes more than farms, and one of the key supports is access to credit. Not many banks feel capable of evaluating a farm loan application and deciding what is or isn't a good risk. Around and about the Champlain Valley, the National Bank of Middlebury, the First National Bank of Orwell, and the Chittenden Bank have some ag loans in their portfolios. The two businesses were chosen together since they are connected physically and work cooperatively in many ways. Linda's Apparel & Gifts is owned by Linda Cook and her husband Bruce Bishop. They opened their store in April of 2005. Linda had been in the retail clothing industry for 25 years, starting out in 1982 working for Fishman's in Vergennes. When the opportunity came up to rent the space when Fishman's was previously located years ago, Linda and Bruce jumped at the chance and Linda's Apparel & Gifts was opened! [ more ]
