Vergennes Fire Department Honors Service And Community By Cookie Steponaitis In virtually every town there is one tree that stands above the others. Aged and majestic, it marks the passing of seasons and pays tribute in its own stately way to the longevity of the community and the people who call it home. The tree with its deep roots and strong base is beloved by many, seen by all and taken for granted as a part of the fabric of life in the town while standing quietly and resolutely. [ more ] Remembering Theo Fuller Lowell By Cheryl White It is with deep sadness that we learned of the passing of Theo Fuller Lowell. Theo was a real character, a true Vermonter and she loved Middlebury. As a matter of fact Theo loved life and everything that came with it. We were favored with her friendship for as long as there has been a Valley Voice Newspaper. She was very engaging and she made us smile. [ more ] DAR Essay Contest Winners Joy Minns, Regent of the Seth Warner - Rhoda Farrand Chapter of the DAR, was delighted to present awards to two participants in the NSDAR 2016-2017 essay contest. Addie Brooks, a 9th grader at VUHS, received a 2nd place certificate for her entry in the Christopher Columbus contest. Her sister, 7th grader Olivia Brooks, received a 1st place pin, certificate, and monetary award for her entry in the American History contest. [ more ]
