Faith Family Flowers And Water Sharing Memories With Lovey Burke By Cookie Steponaitis Spending the afternoon with Lovey Burke is really quite a lovely experience. Lovey was born in Queens County, New York in 1918 and named Gertrude, she was called ‘Lovey’ by her Mother because of her sweet disposition at quite a young age. Petite and yet gifted with a steel will and resolve, Lovey and her sister, Ruth, were the only two children. Her father was a fabric salesman and her mother stayed at home which was the norm of that time. “I had a delightful childhood,” reminisced Lovey. “We were in a small neighborhood and the community was on a little bay. I loved swimming and I loved spending time with my parents learning, watching and being together as a family.” [ more ] Local Teen Wins National Rifle Association World Junior Shooting Championship By Cookie Steponaitis Michael Davis was five years old the first time he was allowed to take aim at a target. He was nine when he realized it was more than a passing fancy and began to practice and dream. “I first started at shooting competitions in the local area,” explained Davis. “Winning at the local level made me more dedicated to the sport and to dream big. I was at the Ruger Rimfire Competition when I was ten and I told my mom I intend to be a national champion.” [ more ] Tigers Hold Off Essex 21-13 By Mike Cameron These two have been going at it since their red hot Division 2 days way back when.
