Firefighters Fill The Station Food Drive Hits Ten Year Mark

Ten years ago, the members of the Bristol Fire Department knew there was a need in their community that was not being met. The Have-A-Heart Food Shelf in Bristol that serves five communities was not getting enough food to cover the growing local need. Spurred into action by Bristol FFD Chief-retired Mark Bouvier, the Fill the Station Food Drive was born.

National Day Of The Morgan Horse Is October 28th

Justin Morgan had a horse and thankfully it was at a pivotal time in American history. The American Morgan Horse Association is sponsoring a nationwide Open Barn Event on October 28th and several local barns will be open. The goal is to welcome people familiar and unfamiliar with the Morgan horse for an up-close and personal introduction to the special qualities of this breed. The Morgan is without a doubt one of the most versatile horses in the world, is inextricably linked to the shaping of the nation and has the honor of being the Vermont State Animal.  [ more ]

Local Caregiver Honored As Vermont Association Educator Of Young Children For 2017

Cookie Gill Danyow has had a passion for and worked with young children for the past thirty years. Cookie was born and raised in the Starksboro area and knew from an early age that children were her gift and future. “I started babysitting when I was about ten years old,” shared the Vermont Association Educator of Young Children Teacher of the Year (VAEYC) “and knew I had found my place.”

Tigers Run Past CVU 35-6 Playoffs Next

Tiger quarterback Cody Pomainville lit the visitors scoreboard first with a 79-yard scamper off tackle after a gutsy 4th and three call by Coach Dennis Smith.  Once Pomainville found daylight he was gone.
Jack Donahue kicked the point and the pressure was on the Red Hawks 7-0 with 4:30 left in the first quarter but they responded.  Excellent first quarter Tiger tackling especially in the secondary kept CVU fom getting key third down conversions.  They are big, and they are quick off the ball.
