Tigers Unload On Rebels 31-7 And Stay Unbeaten

    The MUHS Tigers prowled into So. Burlington on Saturday afternoon for a rare mid-afternoon battle with the SBHS High School Rebels.
    The Rebs like their cross-town rivals at Burlington High have a state-of-the-art playing surface on the football/soccer field.  
    Unlike the new rug at Burlington, this one is made up of a compacted rubber pellet fill and is not completely solid.  
    The field we are told by some of the coaches at the school is the same surface used in the NFL and in pro soccer and is relatively labor free in its up-keep.

Middlebury Beauty Shop Begins New Era

    You can make a lot of friends in 43 years. Ask Middlebury Business woman Theo Lowell.
    Theo opened her beauty shop on November 1, 1965 and named it the Lady Fair. It was a wise decision
    Formerly O’Briens, The Lady Fair has become a landmark for customer loyalty and life-long friends.
    It’s interesting to note that the name of the business came about as the result of a customer contest.
    Theo explained that she wanted customer input right from the start and it has proven to be an excellent idea and a popular name.

Swamp Road Covered Bridge Restoration Underway

The covered bridge spanning Otter Creek connecting West Salisbury and Cornwall is undergoing a major restoration project.  Swamp road will be closed while the work continues.  The project will continue until August of 08. Work is under the direction of Alpine Construction Co. of Schuylerville New York.  Alpine is going to “replace worn out wood flooring, siding and support beams,” during the next year of restoration construction according to company officials.  Alpine will be using materials and methods that will restore the venerable old crossing to its original condition thus preserving a beautiful section of Addison County transportation history.  [ more ]
