    Go-Kart Racing was very popular in Central Vermont back in the 1960’s.  The drivers were local legends.  
    Hot-Shot competitors, mostly adults, would keep fans on the edge of the ropes as they raced their small, dual chain saw engine powered, machines on dirt tracks around the region.  
    Motorsports enthusiast’s fascination with these mimi-mechanical-marvels outside Vermont however continued to grow.
    Today Go-Karting remains popular with its devoted followers and in some divisions the drivers are as young as 8 years old.

Friends of Middlebury Hockey Receives State of Vermont Grant For Expansion Project

     On November 15th, 2007, Friends of Middlebury Hockey received a check from the state of Vermont in the amount of $10,000 for the Memorial Sports Center Expansion Project. The grant was awarded from 2007 General Assembly appropriated funds through a competitive grant process for recreational and educational facilities across the state. Past Friends of Middlebury Hockey President Bill Ford (center) and current Friends of Middlebury Hockey President Rick Marshall (right) attended an awards ceremony in the State House Chamber in Montpelier and received the check from Governor Jim Douglas. Jim Swift, a member of the fundraising committee for the Expansion Project, submitted the grant application to the state.

Christmas Show For Addison County Agency On Aging Was Golden

VFW Post #7823 hosted the Agency on Aging December 7th,as they do the 1st Friday of each month.  the guest's were treated to a quartet of Golden Retrievers handled by veteran dog trainer Peg Cobb, along with M.P. Jackson and Susan Tucker and  the stars of the show Emily, Oliver, Stella and Ginger.  Handlers and dogs performed a Holiday mix of routines complete with costumes, props, and music and their enthusiastic audience enjoyed every note of it.  L to R Peg and Oliver play the role of shepherds in the opening skit while M.P. and Susan look on with their dogs.  Far left all three handlers and dogs get up close and personal with the front row of a very large group at the special event.  The four Goldens did very well in the space they were allowed, and were not distracted by the closeness of the crowd.  The dogs seemed to enjoy the skits and the feeling was mutual from  all those in attendance.  [ more ]
