The new Spartan Stadium continues to take shape on the Castelton College Campus. The facility currently has a main bleacher section that will seat 1500 and a unique press box and tower overlooking the state of the art playing surface also currently under construction. The press box features architecture that resembles a typical New England railroad station from a bygone era and is finished in earth tones giving the entire complex a definite, environmental friendly and green signature. The new facility will be part of a sweeping new look for sports facilities on campus. Soccer, football, baseball, softball, lacrosse and field hockey will benefit from the new construction and renovation. Castelton student athletes, the administration, staff and fans of Spartan sports are anxiously awaiting the completion of the project when the school will host its first ever regular varsity home football game this fall. Castelton has a long history of academic and athletic achievement. It is a member of the Vermont State Colleges System. The new construction has the community excited, positive and upbeat. The general contractor for the project is Engelberth Construction. Project Supervisor Eric Palmer recently game the Voice a brief tour of the site on Tuesday April 28th, 2009.
